Seems GDS had skipped v3.0 altogether and jumped right into v4.0 Beta...
GDS v4.0 Beta has faster updating of files into index (no Real Time Indexing)...
But seems the most interesting part is the GDS's API allowing public to add functionalities into GDS (similar to Firefox's Extensions), like MP3/WMA metadata indexing, WordPerfect file indexing, etc. which some are free.
There's even a internet crawler robot API out...
The only problem is, the really interesting ones are still interesting ones are still Trialware (ie: you need to pay up), such as PDF OCR module for GDS v2.0
Personally, I think perhaps XDS should considering to open up its SDK to public for free, to help jump start its XDS customization for the general public...
I really hate the lack of GDS quick preview, but this API system similar to Firefox's Extension is starting to look interesting (if only they have freeware PDF OCR and freeware *.TIF OCR modules...)
