Can X1 search through the content of files and email?

Yes, X1 can search through the content.

However, if you are new to X1, it may be a bit confusing at first. The main search field at the top of X1 searches through content AND attributes. The attributes are what you will find under the columns in the results pane - for example, the email attributes include: the From: field, the Subject line, the Folder name, etc.

When a search is entered, the results displayed by X1 will be from content AND attribute hits. For example, if you search for "Noel" in the main search field, you may get:

1. An email message that has the word "Noel" in it.

2. Email messages that are under a folder named "Noel."

3. Email messages with "Noel" in the subject field.

If you want to force X1 to ONLY search through content and not attributes, type "content:" before your search term. For example, this search string will bring up results with the word "blue" in the content:
