How to search for dates and/or a date range

Postby Greg Dawes » Thu May 03, 2007 4:03 pm

There was a change to the logic in the formation of date searching beginning with v5.6 (build 3377). Therefore, this post applies to X1 Enterprise Client versions 5.6.x

Specific Date
To search for a specific date (for example July 2, 2006), you could enter any of the following:

In the above examples, dashes '-' and slashes '/' are interchangeable (for example, you could enter: jul/2/06). You can also enter the full year, 2006, in place of 06 (for example, you could enter: jul-2-2006)

Date Range
However, for date range searching, the dates *must* be in the format: yyyy-mm-dd. As an example, to search for dates from July 20, 2006 to July 29, 2006, enter:

BETWEEN 2006-07-20 AND 2006-07-29

In these examples, dashes '-' and slashes '/' are interchangeable.

Date Range - Specific Month
To search for a specific month and year (for example July 2006) you could use any of the following:

Again, dashes '-' and slashes '/' are interchangeable with the above examples and the year must be in the format, yyyy

There is also a Knowledge Base article which describes this behavior.

Aha! So X1 has seen the light and rejected a dumb dating system.

This gets you the KnowledgeBase article:

How do I perform date range searches?

Unfortunately, the design of the KB is such that I can't find a link that does not throw you out of the system into a frame. Maybe that is why Greg didn't post a link.
X1 Search 8.6.1 - Build 6003fa (64-bit)

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

do you know what the search criteria would be for a search by certain time?

e.g. all emails sent after 5 pm

< 5:00 pm results that match '00' and 'pm'

> 5:00 pm doesn't produce any results.

thanks for any input
