Will Old Licence Keys Work On The Latest X1 Version?

The latest stable version is X1 Professional Client Professional here:
http://www.x1.com/resource_center/downloads.html

1. Upon X1 purchase, your Licence Key would be 16-digit long.
(Trivia: This was implemented for v6.2 and onwards.)

2. For those of us X1 old timers who have previously purchased an old 13-digit License Key for XE1, you may use these up to and including v6.1

Disclaimer: Since we volunteer Forum Moderators don't work for X1, this is not an official announcement!

X1 Staff had explained this in greater detail here:

Chris Wheaton wrote:This discussion of the timing of the move to 16 digit registration code for version 6.2.4 ...

The 16 digit registration code was first in March of 2008 with the release of version 6.2. Out of respect for existing clients with valid support terms that allowed them to upgrade to 6.2 X1 used the next 13 month period as a transitional period. During that time all releases of the X1 product from 6.2. through 6.2.3 were able to register with either a 13 or 16 digit registration code.
In April 2009, with the release of version 6.2.4, we fully implemented the 16 digit registration method doing away with the 13 digit codes. X1 sent email to explain that the change to a 16 digit format was now complete.

The facts are:

- X1 introduced the 16 digit format in a product upgrade version (6.2) - we did not arbitrarily introduce it in an update (6.2.4)
- X1 attempted to respect our existing customers by providing an adequate transition period
- X1 attempted to properly announce our move to the 16 digit format

One element that is being overlooked is the X1 EULA terms and conditions which state that upgrades and updates are only guaranteed to customers with existing support and maintenance terms in affect. Anyone still using a 13 digit registration code has not had valid support with X1 for some time and would not have been eligible to update to 6.2.4 on its release date in 2009.

The question has been asked "so there is no way out for us"?

There are options.

- Log into your existing X1 support portal. You're free to download and continue to use the 6.2.3 product which will respond to your existing 13 digit registration code.

The change to this new registration format does not cause your perpetual use license to expire. The perpetuity of your license agreement with X1 extends to the product delivered at time of sale and to any product you're eligible to upgrade to per terms discussed above.

- Purchase an appropriate new license or license upgrade as expressed in our current upgrade options FAQ:
http://www.x1.com/support/faq#upgrade

I do respect that changes can be uncomfortable. X1 Technologies strives to make changes in our product as tolerable as possible. We regret any inconvenience.
