Can I Install X1 On Two Computers?

Postby jshofstra » Wed Mar 05, 2008 1:16 pm

If I buy one version of the full-up version of X1 pro and install it on both of my computers or do I need two copies?

OK, straight from the horse's mouth:

"How many computers can they use their X1 Client Professioal Licence on?"

The EULA (End-User License Agreement) states that users can install X1 on (1) primary computer and (1) additional computer provided that only one instance of X1 is running at any one time. Here's a link to the EULA:

That's interesting. But with something like X1 it is hard to know how to interpret that.

I have X1 on my PC and my laptop. I very rarely have the two turned on at the same time – usually when I am synchronising them.

But I do leave the PC, and X1, running when I am away form the office. I am not sat in front of the two so I am not "using" both.

Adobe has the same deal with Acrobat. But it is easier to interpret that one. I can't be creating PDF files on both machines at the same time, while I can be indexing two PCs.

By the way, I prefer the licence policy of PaperPort. Home PC, work PC and laptop. This acknowledges the way most people work. PaperPort made that deal after several of us bullied the product manager.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.
