Searching Dropbox with X1

Postby billyv71 » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:14 am

Is there a way for me to index my Dropbox (or Play or SugarSync) folders so that I search them with X1?

I'm not the most technical person alive...enough to be dangerous. So if this is a ridiculous question, I apologize in advance. But I'd still like the process is available.

Thank you very much for your help!

Sure!

Go to the Tools menu, then select "Options"

From the window that pops up, on the left hand side select "Files" (under the indexing heading)

Now on the right, select the box that says "Select Files to Scan"

A new box will pop up. Click on the [+] next to the C:

That will expand and show you your filesystem. From there, you just have to navigate to your Dropbox folder and make sure it's got "Everything" selected as the option. I can't tell you where on your Hard Drive your Dropbox folder is, it depends if you're running Windows XP or Windows Vista/7.

If you're stuck or having problems, post back and we'll try to help.

And how you have configured Dropbox.

If you have the desktop shortcut, just click it and it will take you to the location that you should add to X1's indexing regime.

I always keep things like that where I want them, not where the software developers sees fit.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.
