Trouble First Time Starting X1

Hi,
I have had X1 search for years going back to the Yahoo days. I have just installed the trial version, but have not been able to get it up and running.

I get the following error: "Connection Failed Unable to connect to X1 Service: All attempts to start and connect to X1ServiceHost failed"

The help desk does not know what to do. The "diagnostics' came back OK. I disabled my Symantec Endpoint, but still no luck. Have tried outside of office, still no luck.

ANYONE have ANY advice?

You are not the first to be denied a Connection to X1. It happens daily on my spare PC. But that will start when I try a second manual attempt.

You might like to tell the X1 folks what operating system you are on, just in case there is a pattern.

I have seen reports that they are on the case on this and other issues, and will put out an update, but that seem to have been set aside for some reason.

Yeah - I'm pretty much done wasting my time with this half baked, untested, unsupported product. I too had the previous versions of the client installed on my machines without hardly any trouble and ever since I made the mistake of paying for the upgrade to 8, I've finally decided to give up on this company and their poor product. So much wasted effort in "activation" as if anyone with half a mind would even consider stealing this crap software product. I've installed, uninstalled and completely wiped my machine of anything resembling X1 and still same error without any hope of the this company fixing the issue. It's really sad because I work with many enterprise customers who have made major software purchases based on my recommendations, but this is one that I'll recommend not even wasting the time to download the product. :evil:

continue to have this problem. Help desk is not helping other than saying to delete and re-install.

Is something wrong on my end? Anything i should be checking on to solve it?

I've also been having this problem. When X1 first tries to start when I boot my pc (Windows 7 64bit) I get the message: "unable to connect to X1 service: All attempts to start and connect to x1ServiceHost failed". If, then, I try again to start X1 it is fine.

Any answers to this issue yet?

I have this exact problem. I am hoping that since this has been logged long ago we have a solution by now?

I too have this problem. Only with me it will not start after the second (or third or fourth...) attempts.
Rebooting does not help.
Reinstalling does not help.
Totally unable to use x1. Am hoping for a solution.
The problem has existed for several weeks.
My premium support expired a while back. I may repay just to see if they can help on this.

Don't do that. The X1 folks are pretty accommodating at problem solving. Just file an official report.

Have you been through the uninstall/reinstall process?

I've been having the same issue as the rest of you. I'm tired of it as well.

What other desktop search programs are worth considering?

You have just joined a conversation that is two years old.

If you have a problem, start a new discussion. Then the X1 team might notice it.

Or follow the advice in this one and contact them yourself.
