Another small but possibly significant design issue

Postby Kenward » Thu Oct 16, 2008 7:43 am

I didn't realise until a file flashed up with an unexpected "excluded folders" status that the new version seems to default to indexing "Filenames and sizes only" when you pick a folder in "File Indexing Options".

I might have noticed this sooner had I spotted the far too subtle differences between the four levels of indexing.

The little boxes with their not very distinct level indicators don't work for me. I like something with a bit of colour.

Try traffic lights colours?

Tiny icons

I agree. The Icons showing how "detailed" the indexing are too small for my eyes (or anyone else over the age of 21).

This is one of several design issues that seem to confirm what you suggested in another message, that they have gone for a particular view size.

I see the issue I raised on both of my monitors, one is 1680 by 1050, the other 1280 by 1024.

The release notes suggest that X1 does not fully support dual monitor environments. Hard to know what that means, but this is such a common configuration in these days of inexpensive flat screens – I'd be surprised if there aren't a few dual-monitor systems around at X1 – that it should be on the designers' agenda.

Yes, agreed!

These icons should be updated in our next beta release.
