Just upgraded, BUT NOT for long!!. How can a release that has has taken so long to come out of beta be so poor??

5.5 works fine for me. I like the new features and it seems just as fast as the older versions.

I have some trouble with the outlook calender on one machine but otherwise all is well.

Hmm... so what don't you like about it?
Perhaps it would help if you can restate it in a form of Feature Request to X1... i'm sure they'll listen...

5.5 (and 5.5.1) work great for me. I was suspicious about real-time indexing, but I'm now a convert.

In case I had been a bit harsh, and as I would like my appointments indexed, with considerable trepidation I tried v5.5 again, and it seems a bit better this time - perhaps as I only let it loose on my documents and Thunderbird emails first.

However, when I index Outlook 2000 (appointments and contacts only) it is not picking up any entries. I do not use Outlook for email at all. I have checked the folder options to ensure that X1 could see the data, and that looks ok, and also did a clear and reindex in case it had become confused. Still no joy.

At one point there was a 'complaint' dialog that the email client was not set, but I checked and it is correctly set as Thunderbird.

Dell 8300, P4 2.6gHz, 1gb DDR Ram.

Anyone any suggestions please?

I have 5.5.1 installed on two machines. One works correctly with outlook 2002 indexing email/contacts/calendar/tasks. The second is OK except it only picks up small number of Calendar entries! I think the problem may be with the Outlook 2000 on the second machine but I have not tried to verify that theory.

Has anyone else succeeded with Outlook 2000?

With no changes to my system, X1 v5.5.1 is now crashing every time it is loaded with 'access violation error in X1.exe'. I allowed the error reports to be sent.

It seems the canine connection is back. Reverting to v5.4 again! This really is just too poor.

Did you contact X1 technical support directly, and did it work out?

No, I assumed they read these forums, but I will give them a go direct.

Oops, that's what I have gone back to.

I use disk images, so I was able to drop my system back a month or so the first time, and took the precaution of taking a new image immediatedly before trying again, so that it only took 10 minutes to get rid of.

Actually, I see no point. It is absolutely clear from other topic posts, let alone the numerous beta conference posts pre release, that X1 are aware of the problems, and they should issue a PUBLIC statement of what is being done about it, if anything, instead of just advising how to downgrade. I can only hope that the attitude is not one of 'if we ignore them the unhappy few will go away'.

I went back to 5.2.3 and it works fine.

It's incredible that X1 cannot get QUALITY upgrades released.
