Restricting column changes

I want to deploy X1 to others in my office. I've configured the X1 client to my liking with the Deployment Manager (I've disabled about 90% of the options), but it doesn't go far enough. I want all column configurations and widths locked so the end user cannot change them. This may sound extreme, but since I'm the de facto IT guy in this office (not my real job), I don't want questions like "what happened to this column" or "how do I sort by date again?"

Were you a dictator of some sort in another life? Or maybe you just have the IT manager gene, which creates a denial that anyone else can possibly know how they want to use software.

I'm guessing that this simply is not possible. It would make X1 useless.

Why should everyone want to use it in the same way that you do?

Wouldn't a better solution be to train folks properly, and then to have proper support resources? Simple notes and pointers to the X1 tutorial and web support might deal with the dunderheads who surround you.

Why not try it on one or two folks to see how they get on? You might be surprised how smart they are.

It must be a control issue. But, I'd rather have someone come to me and say, "why can't I do this?" rather than "my X1 is completely screwed up, can you fix it?"

The snapshot idea is a good one - it would make it very easy to get it back to default settings.
