zotero search

Postby danhotchkiss » Sun Jan 20, 2008 10:41 am

I would like to be able to include zotero bibliographic citations (www.zotero.org) in my X1 searches.

Did you try adding your specific file extension (suppose it's called *.ZOT) so XEC can index for its body contents?

Yes, I did, thanks. Zotero uses the SQLite database, whose file extension seems to be .sqlite. Adding that to X1 allows searching content, but not previewing the results. Since the Zotero database contains all of my bibliographic data, that's only a little bit useful!

Zotero is free and sponsored by some very big guns in the library world, so it will be very big, I believe. Well worth getting preview capacity for X1 at some point, IMO.

Thanks again,

The viewer issue is really down to the folks who provide this bit of technology for X1. In this case, Stellent, now a part of Oracle.

Do you know of any desktop search software (DTS) that can index and show SQLite? If so, that at least proves that it is possible and might be an incentive for X1 to add that feature.

Maybe Microsoft or Google has this in their DTS. It might be worth checking.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.
