Toolbar icon redesign

Postby pgk » Sun Sep 04, 2011 1:14 pm

Something I never got around to requesting: isn't it time to include a couple of icons for common functions?

Example: this is my toolbar setup
Image

In order:
- clear search (included)
- save current search (included)
- save as (included)
- preview window right
- preview window bottom
- preview off
- options
- highlight terms

Obviously these 'icons' are ascii codes because no icons are available for these. Seems like basic functionality, and easy to add.

And how about an option to show only icons, without text?

You should not need both. That is the point of icons.

Not showing the text is already possible. While in the 'customize' dialog, you can right click on a toolbar icon and change the style to 'default' style, which is 'icon without text'.

Apart from that, it seems like having an intern draw up a couple of pretty standard icons should take all of an afternoon, seems worth it.

Doesn't work here.

No option for style.

Sorry, I meant 'right click on a toolbar icon that has already been placed on a toolbar' while in customization mode. It's confusing, but that's the way MS Word used to do it as well.

So: dialog needs to be visible but you need to right click in an actual toolbar at the top of the screen.

Nope. Doesn't work.

With that window visible, the only thing that X1 does on right click is complain, with a "ding" and a flash of the window.

Very odd, maybe this was removed in a later version. I'm on 6.2.3. One last screenshot to show how this works for me:

Another lost image. (I just fixed it for you. No idea where it was going wrong. Actually, somehow you had picked up the wrong url.)

Doubtless something that got lost. I am some way "ahead" with 6.7.3.

Maybe it got vanished in the rush to dotnet.

We need that back.

Clearly I suck at this picture embedding thing. I tried to fix it, because I could no longer see the pic myself. Could you finally see it, and are you saying that that right click menu disappeared? That would be bad indeed, and in that case I also apologize for throwing up this elaborate smokescreen around the issue.

I don't know what went wrong.

I retrieved the link you posted and threw it at my browser. Lo and behold the picture appeared.

I tried that in your message and got the same result as you. No picture.

When I recovered the link to the image itself, it turned out not to be the same link as the one that got me the picture.

I put that into the message and it worked.

So it may not be what you are doing but how that system works at postimage.
