Outlook messages not being indexed

Postby sbruhns » Thu May 21, 2009 7:15 am

I am running a Dell Lattitude D420 with Windows XP SP3. I used the free version of X1 for quite some time. About a year ago a colleague convinced me to swtich to Xobni. I hated it, so I deinstalled it and licensed a copy of X1 Professional (v6.2.2). Now I'm having problems.

I run Outlook 2003 SP3 against Exchange. Due to company email restrictions, I have Autoarchive move older mail from my Deleted and Sent folders into a local PST file every day. I have X1 set to scan the Deleted and Sent folders in both the archive PST and the mail mailbox.

However, it consistently misses email. I've set the Indexing to "Most Agressive" but no help. I find that if I manually index it seems to then find everything, but when left to its own it consistently misses stuff.

I occasionally access my email from another PC with the same Outlook client, however I do NOT autoarchive from that PC. I also frequenlty delete mail through my iPhone.

Help?

Outlook messages not being indexed

Postby rhubarbbs » Tue Jun 09, 2009 2:15 pm

Hi,

I'm having the same issue, but mine is even more straight forward -- X1 is just not indexing all of the email in my Exchange Inbox. I'm not doing anything fancy, just trying to find mail. I can see them in my inbox, X1 says it's done indexing but emails that are days old are not in the index.

I'm running XP SP 3, Outlook 2007, X1 Professional Client 6.6.2. i

I have already posted a support case but I wanted to contribute to the forum as well.

Just to clarify, are you running version 6.6.2? Or 6.2.2?

You could try upgrading to 6.2.4 but be sure your current license is valid for this version.

Also, have you tried running scanpst to ensure there is no corruption in your PST file? You'd be amazed at how often Outlook will work perfectly OK with a corrupted PST.

Doesn't use of Exchange, which can be a beast, land you with a OST file? In which case the tool to use is scanost.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

There's ScanOST as well, which is for the Cached Exchange Mode I think. It depends, I know I end up with a PST on my drive still I have to scan.
