How to search for parentheses

Postby » Mon Oct 18, 2010 8:25 am

I have been looking through all the help files and forums, however, I am having a hard time trying to find how to search for a string that has a parentheses.

IE: search all files with the string ".find(<t".

I have put the quotes around the string, however, that does not work. I am looking for the exact string as above - no math to this string. IE: it is for searching C# code in looking for finding a record inside of a structure of <t> type.

Can someone please help?

From the Help file:

All punctuation typed in the search text field will be treated as a space, except when the punctuation is used as part of a search term.

I think you will find that parentheses are punctuation.

In other words, your search will not work.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

Just to echo what Kenward said. X1 does not index punctuation, therefore there is no way your search can work I'm afraid.
