X1 ® Professional Client Raptor Beta II
(Build 3960)

Note: The original link for build 3954 has been replaced with build 3960.

We are pleased to announce the release of the Raptor Beta II and would really like everyone to give it a try and let us know how it works out for you. We have done a lot in this release to improve performance, reliability, and smoothness of the interaction. While we would be curious to know how you think this performs with regard to 6.2.4 (currently available on the website), we are most curious to hear how this performs relative to the 6.6.5 version (currently available on the forum).

Some things you should try out:
  • General searching and look for responsiveness of the results pane
  • Multiple term searching
  • Sorting results by multiple columns or reversing sort order on a given column
  • Switching tabs
  • Test Outlook Real Time Indexing (on all your folders now)

NOTE: Installing this build requires that .NET 3.0 or higher be installed on your computer. Here is the link to the latest .NET 3.5 SP1: ... laylang=en

You can download the X1 Professional Client Raptor Beta II by using this link: <old link removed> -- please see viewtopic.php?f=48&t=4214
Note: The original link for build 3954 has been replaced with build 3960. Also, Raptor Beta II will function until December 22, 2009, at which time we hope to have a new build available.

**Important Considerations**
- KNOWN DOWNGRADE ISSUE: Downgrading from X1 Professional Client Raptor to 6.2.x (or lower) while saving settings will cause issues in the X1 index that prevent the application from launching. If you plan to downgrade from X1 Professional Client Raptor, uninstall the X1 client WITHOUT saving settings.
- Remember that we always advise that you uninstall any currently installed version of X1, without saving your settings/preferences, before installing any beta build
- Please restrict all comments regarding this release to this section of the forum
- Any user upgrading from 5.5.5 or previous will be required to rebuild their index files.

Our goal is to test and validate that our products work with those products our customers and partners use most frequently. Just because a particular version of the third-party software is not listed on the supported platforms guide does not mean that the product will not work with X1, just that we do not explicitly test that version of the application.

The new version delivered itself first thing this morning. A bit stuttery on one (Win 7) PC, but fine on the others (Vista).

It would be nice if new versions arrived a day or two before the beta expired. Or if the expiry gave a few days leeway.

I was getting ready to leave the office for three days abroad when the new version landed. Had I missed it, and landed somewhere with a rubbish, or expensive, internet connection, I would have been locked out of X1. Not something I relish when working on the road.

Understood. It was not our intent to release the new build on the final day of the old beta. Hopefully, that won't happen again.

Thanks for your input!

New build looks nice. It fixes the bug I noticed (but didn't report, bad me) with RTI in Outlook 2003. It wasn't working at all with Beta I, now it's working well in Beta II.

I have a couple of bits of general feedback if anyone's interested:

1) Is it possible to get rid of the ClearType in the dotNet version? The non-dotNet version's interface looks so much cleaner to me as the Text isn't ClearTyped. I know ClearType is supposed to make the text look nicer, but I don't think it does at all. Making this a toggle would be nice.

2) The Email preview pane: It would be nice if this could be condensed so when you scrolled through contents of an email, the information such as subject, to/from etc scrolled as well. Currently if you have a small preview pane and want to scroll through the contents of an email, you can be left with only 3-4 lines of email, while half the preview pane is taken up with information that's actually already available higher up in the results panel. This would also remove having two scroll bars in the preview panel (again, only the case when the preview panel is moved to be quite small). This doesn't affect only Raptor, v6.2.4 currently has this "issue" as well.

But otherwise though, the new Beta's are looking good. Search results are nice and fast.

I second the point about expiry. Went to use X1 this morning and got a crash followed by the expiry message. Now no X1 and a download of 40+ minutes due probably to others also trying to grab the new release.

Have just installed the new beta and clicked not to retain user preferences and settings. It wasn't clear to me (maybe this is user error) that this would destroy all of my indexes! No warning or anything. The indexes took 1+ days to create only 2 days ago, now need to start again
I know this is probably just user error, but something that significant really needs a warning. I don't think of "indexes" as being "settings or preferences"!

So now X1 is useless again for another 2 days! Frustrated! No recovery, just have to wait and rely on other search approaches in the meantime.

Installed X1, not indexing Outlook 2007 e-mail, contacts, calender & Task. It is indexing files. I believe X1 is looking at the default folder and not looking at were Outlook.pst file actually is. This is the same problem as in Beta 1.

Thank you,

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

We have a new installer available for the Raptor Beta II. We would like everyone to upgrade to this version if you already have installed the Raptor Beta II. We will update the automatic update feature to prompt all users for this sometime next week, but you shouldn't wait. We have fixed a couple critical issues as well as added minor updates, including:

    * fixed a major bug wher indexing will stop until you restart X1 if you use the keyboard to move between results in the Results Pane
    * fixed a bug where X1 would crash if you used the Delete key to launch the Delete PSA
    * improved the installation on 64-bit machines
    * improved the installer and uninstaller functions
Let us know if you have questions regarding this new Raptor beta build.

Installed X1 Build 3960, still not indexing Outlook 2007 e-mail, contacts, calender & Task. It is indexing files.
