X1 ® Professional Client Version 6.7.4 not indexing outlook

Postby Fla » Tue Jul 28, 2015 1:36 am

I have X1 ® Professional Client Version 6.7.4 and Outlook 2013 linked to hotmail account.

The folder list is empty and therefore no mail index is created.
File indexing works fine.
I think it might be a problem in the setting of Outlook but cannot find solution.
can anybody help?

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

When installing I was demanded for an hotmail account. I also have another two gmail accounts.
Can you be more specific on what I should look for in the settings?

Outlook can use Exchange, imap and pop as ways of connecting to email accounts. You can add some of these manually. Or X1 can find them if they are properly configured.

Most accounts show up in your Mail Profile. (You'll find that in the Control Panel in Windows.) Profiles link to local PST databases. X1 sees the profile and automatically adds these and PSTs to its index.

Hotmail is an odd one. Microsoft now suggests that you upgrade to outlook.com. Your best bet for finding how you connect to Hotmail is to go into Outlook and check its Accounts section.

I tried to add a different profile but the "folder section" in X1 is always empty and therefore X1 is not indexing any mail. :(

We still don't know how Outlook connects to your Hotmail.

Without that it is anyone's guess as to what you will achieve by adding a new mail profile in Windows.

That is a non-standard system that is now supplanted by more modern ways of handling email.

If you want to use X1 with Hotmail then you should do as Microsoft suggests and convert to outlook.com.

Hotmail - Microsoft Windows

Outlook.com - Windows Help

It may take a little learning and effort, but if you don't do that you run the risk of being left high and dry as Microsoft moves on.
