Indexing Sent subfolders in Outlook - how do you handle sent

Postby jmkeuning » Tue Jul 01, 2008 8:53 am

I cannot keep sent items in my Sent folder because they get deleted after 90 days.

I find that if I create subfolders in my Sent folder, they will not get deleted, but x1 is not indexing them. X1 is only indexing items in the Sent root.

I tried creating a "sent" folder in the inbox, with subfolders - will that work.

How do you handle sent mail?

Most of my sent mail sits in the folders that hold the messages I reply to, or where my rules put them, based on the recipients.

I like to keep the sent mail folder empty because it gets too full.

But I am puzzled that you can't get X1 to index every email folder. Are you sure it is properly configured to index all your Outlook folders?

Maybe you need to tell us a bit more about your configuration. Are you on Exchange by any chance? I ask because I can't see why email would get deleted after 90 days.

In Outlook itself, you can get round that by getting it to archive messages older than, say, 80 days. Put them in a new PST file.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.
