pst vs ost outlook mails

Postby ridere » Mon Sep 08, 2008 11:08 am

Good day.
I bought the basic version of X1 to be able to search my mails at office. At office we had Lotus notes and X1 worked perfect.
Today our company migrated from lotus notes to microsoft office 2003 (operating system remained XP).
So i have now outlook 2003.
Despite the folder where all my mails have been migrated to is indexed,X1 does not see them.
I suspect the reason is that we are on exchange server and the mails have the .ost format (NOT .pst)
Can you tell me how can i still have X1 working and successfully indexing my emails ?
Tks

Has X1 had enough time to index your email yet?

You might like to search the Help file for "Exchange". For example:

In order for email messages from an Outlook Exchange account to be included in the X1 index, Cached Exchange Mode must be configured in Microsoft Outlook. Your administrator may have already configured this for you, or you may need to do it yourself.

You can learn more about Cached Exchange Mode, how to check if it is enabled, and how to enable it from the Microsoft website:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/assis ... 1033.aspx/

Then there is the KnowledgeBase.

If this doesn't sort you out, come back with a bit more detail. someone might be able to help.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

OST files are what Exchange creates when it's using Cached Exchange Mode.

I have no problems at all with this configuration.

Is it working for you yet ridere?

Have you been to

Tools->Options->Indexing->Email->Outlook and clicked "Select Folders To Scan"?
