X1 stops indexing PST file after first index

Postby gmorgan » Sun Oct 19, 2008 3:38 pm

I have an Outlook structure of a main PST file and an Archive PST file.

I us this to minimise sync times between my office, home and laptop machines.

The sync is done using Easy2sync for Outlook, which works fine with X1, unless I try to index while syncing, in which case it sometimes pulls in a temporary profile which is created while syncing.

On one machine (home PC, Vista Ultimate) it stops indexing the main, current, Outlook file. It indexes it fine if I clear the index file and rebuild but then once it reindexes, I'm left with only an index of the archive file.

I've had this problem over a number of versions, including the new beta, and I'm stumped.

I have a similar system, albeit with more PST files and different synch software (I use SynchPST).

How are your PST files attached to X1? Are they also attached to the same Mail Profile? Or did you add them manually in X1?

My strategy is to have two Mail profiles. One has only my Main Mailbox attached. The other has five other archive PSTs.

X1 then picks up the two mail profiles and lets me pick and choose which bits of them to index.

I don't know if my way of working is frowned upon. It is something that I picked up here many moons past.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

We still know not much about how you have your system set up.

How are the two PST files connected to X1?

Which PST files are attached to your Mail Profile?

Talk of "Temporary Profiles" suggests that you have added the PST files to X1 rather than to a Mail Profile.

But that is just a guess on my part.
