X1 equivalent for Mac?

Postby Jauchart » Sat Oct 25, 2008 6:00 pm

Over the years I've become very dependent upon X1 to find my stuff. But I just made the switch from PC to Mac and am dismayed to find that there is no Mac version of X1 (and, I am told, no intention to offer any in the foreseeable future). Does anyone know of comparable software for Mac?

What version of OS X are you using? I'm on Tiger (10.4.11) and am generally happy with the performance of the built-in Spotlight. I also use Quicksilver, which is a wonderful freeware app.

Just to expand on the above, since posting I've set up my e-mail accounts in the default Mail program and Spotlight indexed them with no intervention on my part (ie there's nothing to set up). Documents are also indexed... so, again, if you are on 10.4x or 10.5x (and possibly 10.3x as well) you've got a pretty powerful indexing tool built right into the OS.
