Outlook locks up

Postby CharlieRutledge » Tue Oct 28, 2008 8:28 am

I am running Professional Client version 6.2.2 under XP. I have recently been having problems with my Outlook 2007 client locking up after receiving new messages. When I uninstall X1, the problem stops. When I install it again, the problem resumes.

What happens is the Send / Receive Status indicator gets to about 95 - 97%, and then Outlook freezes. Sometimes for just a minute, sometimes for much longer (30 minutes+). Most frequently for just a minute or two. Saying "Cancel Server Request" at this point does not have an impact.

If I click Send / Receive and there are no new emails, it does not freeze. It only freezes when there is a new email to process. Another person at my company uses X1 with a similar configuration and is also having this problem.

Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas? Thanks...

Disable Real Time Indexing of Outlook.

If this helps, you should also log a case with X1 because I know they are trying very hard to narrow down what causes this lockup.

Or at least, lockups that some people have reported, yours might be different!

Good luck, let us know if it helps.

Sounds painful.

Have you tried something less drastic than an uninstall? Just stopping X1 from indexing might help to narrow things down.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.
