index external drives

Postby choco » Fri Sep 17, 2010 2:13 pm

I have two external hard drives, but when I try to add them to my list X1 (6.7.1 ) does not detect them. Using Win7 64 bit. Suggestions?

How are they attached?

USB? eSata? Firewire?

It might help one of the experts to know this.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

Here's a puzzle.

I have a raft of external disks. A mix of eSata and USB. X1 finds both eSata but only one USB.

I assume that you have looked in the appropriate bit of the Options:

>>Files
>>Select Files to scan

When my Windows 7 PC recognises most of these drives, they appear in the "Choose a folder" slot.

I assume that Windows spots all your drives. I do know that there are sometimes BIOS tweaks that you have to implement to get Windows to recognise eSata in plug and play mode.

I will look into the odd behaviour here to see if it offers any more clues.
