I keep having problems with the beta, namely these 2:

1: when going to standby, my Outlook 2016 64bit cannot read the PST files after being awaken. I just downgraded to 6.4, and here - no problems, as before.

2: Sometimes, X1 would lock up - with 3 X1 Search tasks in the task manager - surprisingly, one with (32-bit) info? After killing all tasks, I was able to restart X1. Still strange that a 32 bit task would be there (64bit X1 Version installed, 64bit Windows 10 Pro Anniversary Update.

Cheers, Bernhard

I have seen some possibly similar issues with the latest beta.

It won't wake up.

This is the message I see:

I also see the 32-bit task, but that does not surprise me.

I do have to kill various X1 tasks to recover control.

Same thing for me, with 4 tasks shown as running. I am using Outlook 2010 32bit and Win 10 Pro and the X1 beta 64bit. After shut down and restart, the indexes all go back to a prior version, sometimes hours earlier, and sometimes even several days earlier.

X1 has now become effectively unusable.

I have to close all X1 instances in Task Manager.

It will then start again, but when I go back, nothing happens if I switch to another search and try to work with it, for example.

It keeps spawning tasks for X1 Search (32 bit) and X1 Search .

I am up to 4 instances of X1 Search, make that five. A new one starts whenever I launch X1.

Unfortunately, no one from X1 seems to read these messages, so it looks like we are stranded.

I am afraid you'll probably end up by uninstalling X1

-including all paths/remainders on the the drive
-including all registry entries (search for anything with X1)
(a good uninstaller, like Revo Uninstaller, may be of help)

do a reboot
maybe even twice
let windows run for a while
then shut down and reboot
make an image of windows (e.g. Macrium Reflect, or Acronis True Image)
then try to install X1 again.

I know, it is a bit of a workload, but you'll be happy to restore a good working image in case X1 fails.

I may have staved off that nasty by simply running the installer again.

I don't recall seeing the option, and it isn't in the Programs and Features bit of Windows but it seems to have completed a "Repair" of X1.

It seems to have cleaned up some of the junk and I can now switch back to X1 and bring it back to life.

In the process of installing software, after a clean Windows install, I create images each time after a number of applications.
So I end up with six, seven images.
Each time more applications are included in the image.

Before creating an image,
- I reboot
- let the system run for a while (say 5-10 minutes) and
- then shut down,
- reboot again and create an image.

This way, once a setup goes wrong, I can revert to the last good working image.
Have had some instances in the past where this was necessary.

Anyway, before installing X1, which I do at the very end of the process only, I usually create an image.
(Same as e.g. Office)

Yes.. this all takes a lot of extra time.

Well, I admit, this is pretty much off-topic :-)

I have images of my system that predate the problem. But I like to try easy stuff first. Fortunately, the reinstall, which falls into that category, seems to have fixed it. No freezes so far today.

I've begun experiencing the same error, too. I can't help but think something in the last Windows/Microsoft update broke a common file used by X1. Hope to see it fixed soon. It's the 'take action' that's available in the search results that's kept me loyal to X1 through the years.

what take action button? you mean the "send feed back" button in upper right corner?

No, that's not what I meant. Sorry for not being clearer. By 'taking action' I meant being able to do file operations such as delete/reply/forward, etc.

Hi,

to everyone who started experiencing the "Arithmetic result exceeded 32bit":

it is most probably caused by the recent Windows update. We have already implemented a fix and a new beta version will be released soon.

For a temporary workaround, try to turn off the preview before executing the actions that were causing the crash, then turn on again the preview.

I was told by x1 staff the "new" beta would be out on Dec 21 but apparently that was wishful thinking. As I like to say always under promise and over deliver.

Probably not a good idea to put out a new beta release just before they close the office for what may be an extended holiday period.
