]PREVIEW PANE ISSUES

I've been noticing that I keep getting a message in my preview pane only for Outlook emails: "Outlook preview is not available'. It would appear randomly - some emails would work, others not.

Upon further investigation, it appears only to occur with "Sent mail":

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_ftP ... lM0TXE1clk

Email in my Inbox shows up fine:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_ftP ... WpOa3JncW8

Any ideas? Note that for Sent items it still shows the headers, just not the body.

It's:

But I'd seriously consider waiting until they get it working properly. Lotsa problems. Good luck.

Preview on 6001qm is taking ages to appear.
Especially when X1 is started up for the first time - it takes almost 10secs just to preview text email.

Even on subsequent usage (whilst still open) previewing pdf or docs etc take several seconds. Was never like this with previous build

Slow - No Results

Each action requested results in "No Results" including the Clear button.

This lasts for up to 25 seconds.

I've uninstalled and applied the kill reg and reinstalled/reindexed.

Same problem exists.

Installed on 4 machines - this currently occurs on only one. All 4 machines are the same spec and software. Was working fine until last week on the problematic machine. Nothing new on machine.

Submitted case - don't expect a response.

Raised a ticket for this and was given the following solution:

1. Be sure to quit X1 using Exit under the main menu and verify it is completely shut down via the processes tab in task manger.
2. Go to C:\users\username\appdata\local\x1 search (this is the default location of X1’s data directory).
3. Locate a file named init.html and delete it.

Seems to work for now.....

Similar issue for me: preview takes ages to appear when X1 is just started - but a little later in the day does not appear at all. Started a ticket and was told to do the following:
CLEAR/REBUILD FILES INDEX:

Close X1 - Menu > Exit
Navigate to C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\X1 Search
Sort the files by type and delete any file that has the word Files - something - .dat.
Restart X1, exclude the AppData folder and other system folders from the Files index and re index.
- Menu > Data Sources > [edit] Files index (pencil icon) > navigate to the C:\Users\xxx\AppData folder and exclude it from the index by selecting the folder and then the radio button 'Nothing - do not index'
- Update the index by clicking the 'play' button to the right of the pencil icon

This worked for a while but no longer.
In the past I would get a response from technical assistance but am no longer getting it. Don't think I'll renew my paid subscription.

The positive about qm: After several years of unsuccessful attempts, countless re-installs and corrupt indexes, X1 indexed ~6Mio items and worked as expected for a couple of weeks.

Until totay.

Without any error message or warning, the index got corrupted.

As of today X1 has 2(!) emails in index and ~200.000 files.

When will we finally get an X1 that is at least as reliable as Microsofts index?

Kind regards,

After checking settings, I found a very strange thing:
All Outlook folders are deselected.
And most of the folders with the exception of user folders are deselected.

I definitely gave not touched these settings since weeks.

How can this happen???

Valid guess, but no.

Ken, Thanks for your reply.

There were no software installs or configuration changes in the days before X1 choked unexpectedly like usual.

Regarding Win Updates:
In order to stop Windows screwing things "towards inappropriate directions", Windows Updater needs my approval to get going.
(I initiate monthly update a little later, when there were no reports about update issues.)

Yesterday while re-indexing X1 stopped indexing files around 14h00 and never resumed for 18 hours.

Now after restartting X1, it continues indexing, approaching 2,5Mio objects.

X1 remains unreliable and unpredictable.

Disappointing that it can't handly my amount of data.

have the same issue. X1 will index around 600,000 files and in less than a day it will get corrupted and leave me with around 100,000. in my case i've noticed that only indexed files from drive C:(system drive) are lost in the index corruption all other files from other hard drives D: remain.
to recap 500,000 indexed files from drive C: get lost in the index corruption leavings me with 100,000 files indexed on drive D: ticket was submitted in late 2015 sad to see it still isn't fixed. shame as X1 has potential.

After 6 days of indexing X1 reports ~5.3Mio objects in index. Still Increasing.
Until now It needed 3 or 4 restarts to get there.

26.4. Update:
After 14 days of indexing X1 reached 7Mio indexed objects and reported "indexing finished".
I hope, it will not crash too soon again.

X1's search performance is impressive:
Typical searches in "All" objects display results in less than a second.

This is quick as the index directory is almost 20 Gigabytes.

X1 has pretty clever programmers for sure.

I want to go back to the previous version.

This version does not mark the actual messages AS READ when we do this in X1 - *unlike* the older version - so then if we delete them after marking them "read" in X1 8.5 Build6001qm, then the send sees that we are deleting their messages without reading them!

That is unacceptable.

I wrote to X1 support at one point in time, but I think they simply brushed this complaint off...

Have you told X1 to mark messages as read?

It is one of the settings you can check in Configured Data Sources.

Find your Outlook Email entry Edit Data Source, check the appropriate box and pick the time it should wait.

Thanks for this - I am not sure that this option was available in the previous version.

Will see if it helps.

I specifically want to mark mails read in the X1 program itself and then make sure that the actual Outlook e-mail is accordingly also marked as read - after which, I will delete it and do not want all kinds of spurious messages stating that I never read the particular message being sent out afterwards...

This is an incredibly frustrating release. Preview is not working again - even after I delete the offending file. The system just recreates the file and screws it up again. Now the search function is not working properly and every email is getting tagged with my search functions. The system just hangs and does nothing and when it finally loads, it lists every email 3-4 times. Can I please rollback to a previous version that actually worked? This software was better 6 months ago. RIght now - it's unusable.

Any updates when a working version will be released?

Fortunately I'm having luck on 2 machines but my office workstation is not so fortunate. I've reinstalled windows, Office and X1 and still have lagging X1.

Tech support is non-existent.

I would like to know if the error showing "connecting to index services" and the issue causing it is going to be fixed soon or not. This issue has caused my copy of X1 to become completely useless as well as annoying, about every 20 or 30 seconds I get a dialogue box "connecting to index services" which flashes on my screen and is annoying as possible. I am going to take a video of it and post on Facebook soon and I would hope others would too. The issue has been going on for too long.

Good news:

Postby poy » Mon Oct 30, 2017 9:01 am

Good news:
Build 6001qm is the most reliable X1 build for me since years.

It was able to index almost 8M mails and files and as I backup the x1 index folders from time to time, I am able to get back to an almost complete index in case the index gets corrupted.
Getting back to a usable index is just a matter of a couple of minutes with a backup.
Starting from a backup, getting back to a complete index is "only" a matter of 1 or 2 days in contrast to weeks.
It's a good enough solution now, even though X1 should be able to do an automatic backup as long as it can't maintain index integrity on its own.

Imagine a simple background function that would just stop all indexers and copy all index data to a backup folder once daily.
Then it would start the indexers again.
In my experience X1 would typically drop the number of indexed items from 8Mio to 2Mio.
So in case of such a big drop of index items, x1 could ask the user if the full number of items should be restored.
Wouldn't that be a simple thing to add?
