Wrong date (01.01.4501) for some E-Mails!?

After upgrading to X1 Search 8.5 Release - Build 6001qm some E-Mails (as for now 5 out of > 300000) get a spurious date way in the future (01.01.4501) and thus are sorted at the top of the results list which is usually sorted in reverse chronological order. So I decided to delete the mail index and re-create it from scratch. Indexing finished after a couple of hours and the mails with the wrong date seemed to be back with their correct dates, but after some searches I discovered that THEY ARE BACK! This is a bit frightening as it is unclear to me if this is going to corrupt my e-mail archive... I talked to a colleague who also updated to the new version last Friday and he also saw a couple of such entries but decided to delete them.
Help greatly appreciated..

Same problem here. But it turned out that the e-mails with a date of 01.01.4501 where actually outlook messages (msg files) attached to another e-mail with correct date and time.

Thanks to Wolfgang for the hint to those messages being msg files. Yes, in my case they are msg files and Ctrl-G (or right-click Open Folder) will show the folder containing the *.msg files. HOWEVER, in those folders there happen to be many other *.msg files which (fortunately) do not display with a wrong date. I double-checked that the particular *.msg file on the folder was the one being listed with the wrong date by editing the message in Outlook and saving it: the file is modified accordingly. So this leaves a couple of questions behind:
First of all, how to get rid of the wrong date (those five messages are really in the way being listed upmost).
Why do some msg files lead to that error and others don't?
Why did this behavior not happen in the previous version?

Hi,

this issue did not happen in the previous version, because .msg files were processed only by the Files connector, meaning that only the content was indexed.
In the new release, .msg files are passed to Outlook so that both the body and the metadata (from,to, subject) are indexed and easily searchable.

You may notice that the Files searches no longer list these .msg files, instead they are listed in the Emails searches.

As for the problem with dates, is it possible to provide an example .msg file, not containing any sensitive information, so that we can investigate and fix the problem?

I have exactly the same issue and as the previous post states, this is due to some .msg files as attachments while others do not cause this problem.

@Jogy: yes I can provide a sample .msg file. How can I send it to you?

One common thing about the messages showing this behavior is that they were extracted as attachments and stored on the files system by TechHit's EZDetach. However, in those attachments folders I have about 70 such extracted .msg files and only 5 show this behavior.
