How to access the menu with a shortcut key

Regarding the menu in 8.2 beta (the one with strips across it, like Chrome). What is the short-cut key for this?

I believe it was Alt-x before 8.2. None of the Alt- combinations I have tried work.

Also I note that X1 still have not brought back the shortcut keys that existed in 6.7.

Why is this?

Good question. X1 seems to have joined the lemming like rush to abandon keyboard users.

This isn't just bad for mouse-phobes, but for the visually impaired community that likes to voice those commands, or people who want to automate process with macros.

Is it all down to the pressure to force touchscreens on us?

I can see that X1 has answered more recent queries than this one.

Are they going to answers this query or just ignore it?

Hey Victor,

We're looking into the shortcuts. We should have a solution for this in the next beta build.

Also, Victor- We're trying to get a better handle on the IMAP issue you reported here:

Can you take a look at Alan's questions?

Thanks!

The new beta includes fixes for some of the keyboard operations.

Can anyone direct me to the keyboard shortcuts.

Searched manual, FAQ, KB, forum, and UI, with no results. (All I found were the X1 Pro client keyboard shortcuts)

I too find lack of keyboard shortcuts frustrating when I start to develop muscle memory in using the tool, where the mouse becomes a hindrance. There's a trend back towards typed keyboard commands (albeit natural language) in much software these days (eg. Tanium, PictureLife)

Hi there,

X1 Search 8 Shortcut options are located via Menu > Options.

Also, you can bring up the X1 Menu using ALT-X or ALT-M.

Thanks!

Hi Jerald,

What I'm looking for, is keyboard shortcuts that obviate the need to move my hand from the keyboard to the mouse and back, particularly more than once...

So - keyboard shortcuts for operations like:
- Jump to search box (because hitting CTRL-CTRL doesn't actually give X1 focus, or let me start typing the search)
- Jump to field search boxes
- Switch to Email/Files/Documents search
- etc

I've just tried and discovered a few things - like CTRL-CTRL to open X1, then CTRL-CTRL again to get focus/search box... and I can tab down to the filters. So this could be a good start, in which case the issue is taht this isn't documented anywhere that I can see?

Cheers,

Damian

Hi Damien,

Thanks for this additional feedback. We'll take this as an item to add to our online help at http://help.x1s8.com.

I'll add that you can use +/- when focused on the preview pane to jump between highlighted results. :)

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'm finding those shortcuts I just discovered while trying to answer my own question to be pretty handy :-)
