Sort Saved Searches

Postby cwfrizzell » Sat Dec 10, 2016 6:46 am

It appears saved searches are simply listed in the order they were saved. Is there a way to sort saved searches alphabetically?

Excellent question.

It would be nice if we could just sort or drag and drop saved searches to reorder them. It would be even better if we could create sub groups and arrange those as we see fit. Otherwise you quickly end up with a mess.

As to changing the order now, I once experimented with editing the configuration files. In this case, look at:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\X1 Search\navigationtree.xml

If you can work out what is going on, then careful use of an xml editor might work. (XML Notepad is simple to use.)

You'll have to do it with X1 shutdown, and with backup copies to be on the safe side.

I haven't tried this with version 8.5, but it worked on earlier incarnations.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

Rearranging the XML did the trick with 8.5. Thanks for the tip!

Glad to hear that it still works.

But it would still be nice to have this as a feature.

Agree. And it doesn't appear that it would be all that difficult to provide the capability.
