Odd email search results

Postby brandsc » Fri Jan 27, 2017 9:45 am

Since upgrading to 8.5, the way the emails appear in the email search screen is different. Now, when search emails, it also returns emails that have been saved by other users on a shared server (whereas before, these only appeared in the "file" search). The problem now is that when I have emails sorted by date, all of these emails come to the top dated 1/1/4501 that were saved by other users. Is there a way to make these saved emails just appear in the file search results and not the email results as before?

Hi,

You can filter out the msg files from the Emails search:
1. Right click the column headers, and select Choose Columns to open the dialog for selecting visible columns
2. Locate the "Item Store Name" column in the left list and move it to the right (Visible Columns)
3. Close the dialog with OK and in this column refine box type the search term '-MSG' (without the quotes)

This should hide all msg files from the search and then you can save it as a new search.

The .msg files will still be seen in the new MSG Files search

As for the problem of dates 1/1/4501, it is fixed and the fix will be available in the next minor release.

Remember, if you do want to save this search, you need to create a new saved search. You cannot update "hard wired" searches.

And when you have saved a search, you can remove the column that you used to create the search.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.
