Very Slow Preview on Certain Files

Running the latest version of X1 Search on Windows 10.

I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into two problems I'm experiencing.

Since late last year previewing has been very slow on certain files. Those affected are locally stored Microsoft Word DOCX files averaging 300KB. After clicking in the results pane a 'Loading Preview' dialogue appears in the preview pane for about 5 seconds. As these are the files I mostly want to search this is a big issue.

Secondly, since the most recent update, zipped DOC files appear in the results pane with absurd new extensions, so file.zip becomes e.g file.doc5fgr341k.kgp. This makes visual scanning a lot harder.

Any information would be appreciated.

You are lucky that your Preview works at all - even if it is slow.
I am regularly faced with the issue where preview of even simple .txt , .java or .cpp files does not work - let alone more complex .doc or .pdf files. The wait circle spins for a while and then I get an empty preview window after a few seconds.
I am on the latest version 8.5.2

I was given a workaround which provides a temp fix - but I need to repeat on a regular basis which is to shutdown X1 completely and then delete the init.html file from:
C:\Users\youruser\AppData\Local\X1 Search
