Searching for an exact phrase

want to search for an exact phrase i.e. "Windows Version". By exact I expect only that phrase to be found and not for example "WINDOWS.
*
* ***************** Version"

to be found. Based on the help info I tried "Windows Version" but got both this exact phase and often also the latter.

Please can anyone advise how to do an exact phase search in X1?

Any ideas how to filter results to specific file types? in the complete set of results there are a number of .cpp source files containing the exact phase but when I add cpp as a filter for file type bingo no results. If I change to pdf as file type some but not all pdfs from complete list are shown.
To me this is so obviously wrong I can not image this this is by design.

Am running 8.6 6003ch(64 bit) on Win 10x64

Put the phrase in quotes.

"Windows Version"

not

Windows Version

Thanks for the reply but as you can see from my question I do put it in quotes But X1's definition of exact is not the same as mine as it finds many alternatives that are not exactly the same as the phrase specified - I am assuming that it has a collection of characters that are not spaces that it treats to be the same as space. Anyway to turn that off??

It might help if you could illustrate your issue with a real example of a mis-hit.

The "example" in your first message makes no sense to me.

All I ever get when searching for "Windows Version" is stuff that shows "Windows Version". Nothing extraneous in the results.

I assume that you have added .cpp to the files that you want X1 to index?

Add Files

It won't find them if you don't ask it to do so.
