Right click menu for Outlook actions is inoperative

Postby davidsk » Sun Mar 30, 2014 2:44 pm

I have updated to the recent release 5001dv 64bit.

Now in my search results, none of the right click choices for Outlook work e.g. I can't open an email or send a reply to an email, from the search results.

Help please. This cripples X1 for any of my usages.

Windows 7, up-to-date with service packs. Outlook 2010. X1 add-ins installed. I have rebuilt the index – indexing and searching works fine. Outlook email options set to "Store Outlook email body in the index", which has always been my selection.

Working here as designed, in the same environment, although no "local storage". So it is not a universal bug.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

I have the same problem. I can't pin down when it first started but my gut tells me is was after upgrading to 8.2.1. I am running Outlook 2013 64-bit on Windows 7 64-bit. I agree with the OP that this is a big usability issue.

Hello there,

We've had a handful of users experiencing this issue (Outlook PSAs not functioning).

For most of these users, the cause of this appears to be some registry entries left behind by previous Outlook installs, and usually versions later than what the user is running. For example, users who have tried a later version of Outlook (or Office 365) and then rolled back to an older version.

Please reach out to support if you haven't yet done so and they can help walk you through how to identify these registry keys. You can reach support at http://www.x1.com/support/x1_search_submit_case.html.

Here's a site providing an example of one of the Outlook registry keys that can be left over, and the steps they used to resolve:

Thanks!

Thanks for responding Jerald. I haven't made any changes to my Outlook installation since Outlook 2013 was first installed long ago. "Long ago" pre-dates X1 version 8. This problem didn't start happening until relatively recently.

What is an "Outlook PSA?"

I think PSA comes from "Post-Search Action" ... it is the shorthand for the actions that appear on the right-click menu and on the toolbar.

Tried a trick referenced in another thread (change Windows theme from Aero to standard, then back). After restarting X1, the right-click function is back. Strange.
