the parameter value must be between 0 and 3579...

Postby Robby » Thu Sep 18, 2014 2:54 am

Hi all,

I'm facing a problem where X1 i freezes after startup with the following error message:
(I'm unable to fill in my email address or click on submit)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7SB6J9wKBf8eGJicFB5dkpPOUU/edit?usp=sharing

I've reinstalled the program but the problem remains.
Any idea how to solve this?

Regards

Are you indexing an exotic location for stuff on Google drive?

:-)

No, I'm trying to include a screenshot of the error in the post.
Since this doesn't seem to wok (or I'm to stupid...) I posted a link to the screenshot.

Anyway, error message is:
"the parameter value must be between 0 and 3579139.40666667"

Is there some log file that contains more information that I can share?

Bye

Hi Robby,

I'm sorry to learn of the difficulties you have encountered with X1. We had one report of this issue last November, but the user was able to resolve the issue before we had an opportunity to review his setup. Our suspicion is that some of the configuration values associated with one or more saved search files is corrupt. Please try the following to see if this resolves the issue:

1. Access the x1 data directory (default path - C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\X1 Search)
2. In the X1 Search data directory, you should find a folder labelled "saved searches". Please rename this folder to something else (e.g. "old searches").
3. Launch the X1 Search 8 client. Upon launch, X1 should recognize that the "saved searches" folder is missing, and it will be recreated.
4. Please zip the "old searches" folder and email to us for review. Also, please let us know if you X1 client begins to work properly.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Alan Anderson

If, like me, your saved searches are important and you want to preserve them, then you could try copying them back to the new saved searches folder.

Close X1 first.

A good way to shorten this process is to copy half of them over. If X1 does not crash, then that batch is fine.

Next copy half of the remaining searches. (Keep track of which you have moved.) Keep going until X1 crashes on you.

As soon as it does, undo the previous copy session. You will then have narrowed down the suspect.

Depending on how many searches you have pinpointed as problematic, you can use the same tactic to pin it down to the one bad body on the block.

This process may take some time, but nothing like as long as it takes to recreate a whole raft of saved searches. And pinning it down to one saved search could help X1 to quickly debug the issue.
