8.3.1.1 5003az x64 "All files up to date" on screen message

Postby labdoc » Mon Jan 19, 2015 9:47 am

I have a persistent on screen message that I cannot remove: "All files up to date" in the upper left corner of the screen. Must be a bug. Not there with earlier versions.

Is this a ghostly message at the top-left hand corner of the monitor?

I see various X1 messages there. It is a pest because that is where I dock my Windows taskbar.

In my case` it is in Windows 8.1. I do not see it in Windows7.

Yes, top-left corner, only in Win 8.1x64 (not the Metro screen - I use Start8 to give a Win 7-like interface). Not a problem in Win 7 x64. On blank screen, overlies the recycle bin - no loss there. But when I have a program window open, interferes with menu bar. And, it is not transparent.

Like this?

It is, indeed, a nuisance. Probably more so for us weirdos who put the taskbar up there.

I am getting this too. Is there any sign of a fix?
Thanks, Lewis

Not that I have seen. Not even an acknowledgement that X1 knows about the bug.

With three victims, maybe someone will address the issue.

Hello,

can you give some more information about this problem:
- when the message appears, what is the status of X1 - closed, minimized or minimized to the notification tray?
- was X1 maximized when running, and if so, will then making it non-maximized cure the issue?

I'll have to keep my eye on things. But I can answer this one:

No.

Same for me :(
When X1 starts, it starts minimised to the tray - and the offending message doesn't show at this point.
But as soon as I "full screen" X1 to use it, the message appears in the top left of my main monitor ("X1 Search: Index is up-to-date"), and won't go away.
It persists even if I close X1 back to the tray, and won't go away until I completely quit X1.
I have Windows 8.1 Enterprise - fully patched.

Ah! I've just made a discovery! If you Quit X1 completely, and then restart it, it starts maximised, and the problem doesn't reoccur.
It seems to only happen on the initial load, after start-up of the PC, if you have opted to "Start X1 Minimised". So I think I have solved it by unticking the "Start X1 Minimised" box in Options.

Hmm. Ever since I last posted here, I have not seen this phenomenon.

I tried playing around with minimising and maximising, but still I can't provoke message and its ghostly aftermath.

Then again, there is a large hole in my X1 index, where it has forgotten a key folder and shows little sign of indexing it again. Sadly, I have come to expect episodes like that from time to time.

I agree. A fairly recent "innovation".

This will be no help at all in diagnosis, but the message just turned up when nothing was happening.

X1 was minimised. I haven't used it today, but there it was. The message suddenly popped up:

X1 Search all connectors paused

Woke up X1. Told it to Resume all. Old message persists.

Had to shut down and restart X1 to lose the message.

:(

"X1 Search: Index is up-to-date" ...I ALSO observe.

When it appears, I close X1 (rt.click "Exit X1 Search" from the System Tray), and restart X1.

Seems to come and go when it pleases, albeit more often there than not.
Read all the treads before this post… and nothing here has resolved this issue.
Appears to be a BUG in the program.

Using a (2-months new) ThinkPad T540p with Win7-64bit. Office 2013 Pro.
Laptop is designed for business use… no fun or games.
Everything works well including X1… apart from this BUG

I ASSume that the developers of X1 will have to intervene to find a resolution.
Looking forward to knowing if there is workaround, or better yet a fix.

Regards!

First they need to work out why it happens. I don't even know if they have ever see it on the X1 systems.

Unfortunately, I can't see any pattern to the messages popping up on my PC. I haven't seen it for a while now. It will probably reappear when I have finished writing this.
