X1 Search Index is up-to-date button

Hello,

Since a few days at the top left corner of my Windows 7/64 desktop suddenly a small "X1 Search Index is up-to-date" button appears and I don't succeed in removing it. It just happened two hours after booting my PC. Could someone please tell me why that happens and how to make disappear the button.

Thank you in advance and kind regards,

Anselm

Same here, running Windows 8.1. This is extremly annoying, as the button covers the toolbars of applications that are set to use full or halfscreen. The information it provides does not justify permanent visibility. Please do something about it.

Is this the thing you see?

X1 Discussion • View topic - 8.3.1.1 5003az x64 "All files up to date" on screen message

X1 has yet to acknowledge that it exists.

I thought it was a Windows 8 "treat".

I find that it fades into the background if I do anything. But its ghostly presence persists.

All,

Thanks for reporting this. We're looking into the issue to see if we can determine in what cases the X1 Notifcation Icon mouseover message appears in an unexpected location.

Can you please note whether you have made any changes to the Notification icon settings for X1? (i.e. Show Icon and Notifications, Hide Icon and Notifications, Show Only Notifications)

This is accessed by right-clicking the Windows taskbar notification area and choosing 'Customize notification icons'

Also, please note what version of Windows you are running (if not already provided here in the thread).

Thanks!

I changed nothing. It just popped up. And keeps doing it.

Currently running Windows 8.1 Update.

Has anyone worked out how to make it happen?

I'm not sure that I have seen it yet in the latest build.

I did not succeed in finding out what makes it happen.

My version is XI Search 8.3.2.1 build 5003eb (64-bit)

If you close and restart X1 this message may go away.

The strange thing is that there is no link between what X1 says in its status bar and the message up on the taskbar.

Just to say "me too".

"X1 search index is up-to-date" appears in upper left hand corner of screen, seemingly at random, and it stays there. Can be removed only by closing and restarting X1. Very irritating.

I'm running X1 Search 8.3.2.1 build 5003eb (64 bit) on Windows 8.1, but the unwanted message has been appearing for the last couple of weeks or more, so on at least one previous build of X1.

I start X1 minimized when starting windows. Several times I have noticed that the "X1 search index is up-to-date" appears when I clicked the X1 systray icon to open X1. Can someone confirm this?

That doesn't trigger it here.

First, let me say thank you to everyone who is providing insight into when they see this message and what tasks or actions don't cause it to happen.

As we've not been able to reproduce this in-house, our only options are to review code directly and try to envision cases that could lead to this happening, or for one of our forum users to provide a critical piece of information that may lead us down the right path.

Windows version, X1 launch settings, Metro UI settings, etc. are all helpful pieces of data for us.

Please keep the info coming!

Thanks!

Herrschaftseitensacklzementsch...glumpvarreckts! (Hope nobody here understands this.) Again we have a new X1 version, but the "X1 Search: Index is up-to-date" persists. Gave up?

Not hit me so far, however, sadly, I do still see the "lost connection" message that has become a feature of X1.

As a reminder, did you catch the fact that you can get rid of that annoying message by restarting X1?

Restarting X1 makes the button disappear, yes. Until booting the computer next time. I think it's just a time-killing temporary solution.

You mean you see that message every time you boot and start X1?

I haven't seen it in weeks and have never managed to work out what caused it. It just magically appears from time to time.

If you really can get it to show reliably, maybe X1 should use you to try to work out what is happening. As Jerald says, X1 hasn't managed to make it happen back at base.

Unfortunately English is not my native language. This could make it difficult. Isn't there another user without of that problem?

In an attempt to help X1 to pin this bug down, I report here that the dreaded message just popped up when I woke X1 from the notification area.

It went away after a stop/restart.

I too am having the issue and have had it for at least 5 months. I run Win 7.x with two monitors. X1 starts upon bootup on extended desktop, but the "X1 Search: Index is up-to-date" mouse-over looking pop-up appears in the upper left corner of my main monitor and there is no way to get rid of it unless I kill the X1 process. It covers important application functions from other applications such as MS Office Quick Access Toolbar or the window commands icon. I'll be glad to take a call from X1 support. I can recreate it whenever X1 starts from a fresh boot-up of my machine.

That is my experience too.

ballietf wrote: and there is no way to get rid of it unless I kill the X1 process.

That is more drastic than my response. I just close X1 from the notification area. That shuts down X1 and is probably less drastic than killing the X1 processes. That might risk premature termination of important disk writes.
