X1 Search 8.3.3 Release - Build 5003fx - Preview not working

Postby Simon_L » Wed May 27, 2015 3:14 am

Is this just on my PC (x64) or is there a wider problem here? Just upgraded and Outlook emails (but not attachments) and HTML (Firefox) preview fine but X1 does not preveiw any other file type eg pictures, documents, pdf etc

I did a clean install (removed previous version) and deleted the index files. I have not deleted my settings and a bit loath to do this to be honest

There's no error message, the preview pane just remains blank

It behaves fine here. Mostly. I have had a document files that won't show, but it is not universal. So I put that down to dodgy files.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

Thanks for the quick reply, however the only files it will preview are html and Outlook emails (not attachments). The files it can't read are not currupted and they can be opended directly from inside of X1

My reply was just intended to let you know that not everyone has this problem.

In other words, to answer your first question, no, there is not a wider problem here.

Hello,

Can you check in the task manager while trying to preview a document, if there is a process named "X1Viewer" running?

Also, can you go to the X1 data folder, and in the subfolder "logs" open the files X1Viewer.log and X1.log and see if there are any related error.

Thanks again, it's now fixed. I uninstalled, removed the indexes and config files and instaleld in to a new folder so it built everything from scratch. Not sure why I had a problem but all working now
