What's with this time server thing?

Postby Kenward » Fri Jan 29, 2016 2:43 pm

Here's a new one sent to entertain and baffle us all.

I start X1 and get this message:

X1 then closes "ungraciously".

Nothing wrong with my system time.

That error message is also nuts. There are other timeservers around.

Oh, and I still get that error after a manual synch with the windows server.

Give me strength.

PS Is anyone still here from X1? It has all gone very quiet.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

That's likely one part of the user-hostile license protection scheme.

I fixed my problem by restarting the Windows time service (client) which for some reason was manually stopped.

My time was also correct (off by 3 mins). X1 shouldn't pester users with that nonsense (why couldn't the service be started in read-only mode, with indexing disabled?), but they do. Awful.

Edit: the usual (and sad) workaround (uninstall, install but not start, delete index, reindex) helped.
