The panel that opens up announcing this release after starting X1 is too long and cannot be adjusted on my 13 inch Latitude 6230 running Win 7 (64 bits) laptop such that radio buttons for choosing whether to install the update or not are hidden under the taskbar. After accepting and installing the update, X1 re-starts and announces the availability of the update again!
Further - I checked my X1 version after installing the update and it was still 8.0.1 I then re installed X1 without deleting the old installation. X1 program became unstable and crashed.

However..., there is no link to a 8.1 installer.
One might ask for a free trial to do so.
However..., if you already asked for it earlier, that request is declined, you won't get a second copy.
Yes .. it is making life difficult.

I am completely stuck.

Not for the first time, X1 has delivered one of the clunkiest, slowest and most frustrating updates possible.
Why is there no link to download at least the installer? Why can't I save locally and then install?
After all, the licence covers a PC and laptop. Am I really supposed to spend hours waiting for each machine to use up my bandwidth?

With that many victims, someone should have spotted it earlier.

*Additionally we have reverted back to 8.0.1 for the public install, if you prefer to go back you can do so by uninstalling - saving settings and reinstalling from the setup.exe*
I have removed broken 8.1 (missing outlook) and installed it again - this time the 8.0.1 version was pulled from the server. All good. However outlook is missing... looks like 8.1 did some damage.
Not happy.
