X1 Search 8.2 Public Beta - Coming Soon!

Postby Jerald Metz » Tue Feb 25, 2014 11:56 am

Hello!

I want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Jerald and I am the new dedicated Product Manager for X1 Search 8. Some of you may remember me from the earlier days of X1. I returned to the X1 team earlier this year and I am excited to be back. I will be a very active participant here on the forums, however please feel free to contact me directly via email if you need to.

We want to thank everyone for the great feedback we have received from you, both here in the forums as well as directly through emails and support cases. Your feedback is extremely important to the success of our product, and we want you all to know that we appreciate it and that we hear you.

We are planning to make X1 Search 8.2 available as a public beta soon, and we hope you will upgrade and give it a try! NOTE: This is beta software, so you may experience unexpected crashes or issues.

Here are some of the changes coming in X1 Search 8.2 to address some of the issues many of you have reported…

Outlook Crashes and Outlook Indexing Issues

We are making significant improvements in X1 Search 8.2 related to Outlook stability. This includes improvements to how we handle users running 32 bit Outlook installs on 64 bit Windows, and other mixed-bitness environments.

“Unable to Connect to X1 Service” errors

We have made a number of improvements to the product to address this message. We believe most users should see a big improvement with this issue.

    Overall Stability

X1 Search 8.2 includes numerous improvements to core indexing to address overall product stability.

    New Look and Feel

We are introducing a more modern look and feel for the interface. We're not going for dramatic changes, just an update to a cleaner style. For example, the options menu will be moving to the right hand side of the title bar.

This is not an exhaustive list of the features and bug fixes coming in 8.2, but stability and crash fixes have been our primary focus for this release.

Look for a follow-up post from me in the coming weeks with more detail.

Again, we want you all to know that we hear you loud and clear and we appreciate all the great feedback you've been giving us. Keep it coming!

Thanks much!
