deskbar in v6.2.3 and vista

Postby pjbclarke » Sat Feb 21, 2009 2:50 pm

i have used x1 for many years on xp and use deskbar frequently. my laptop hardrive died so i had to upgrade to a vista 64 machine. i am gradually reinstalling software and today installed

X1 ® Professional Client Version 6.2.3
(Build 3631ao) (Created: Wed Dec 10 20:33:00 PST 2008)

the toolbar installed successfully in outlook but not on desktop. when i right click and go to toolbars x1 isnt listed.

i saw a few postings in forums on this for v6..2.1 but couldnt see any speific resolution.

during the install the toolbar menu system did seem to self activate several times

Did you check out the discussion of 64-bit Vista?

I didn't make that leap, stayed at 32-bit. "X1 Deskbar" works fine there, albeit it hard to read because of the colour scheme in Vista.

The people who have grappled with 64-bit may have mentioned this bit of the equation.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

This is a known behavior for X1 on the 64 bit platforms.

Currently there is no fix that will force the deskbar to register and display as you're accustom to for 32 bit systems.

Which bit are you referring to?

I assume you mean that from pjbclarke.

I am using 32-bit Vista and can't work out how to make the text on the X1 Deskbar readable.

I'm referring to the fact that the X1 deskbar is not installed correctly on a 64 bit system.

I guessed that. A bit of judicious quoting would have clarified the issue. When messages are "unthreaded" it is easy to lose track of who said what.

Any response to my question about changing the colour of the lettering in the X1 Taskbar? Or even a pointer as to how i could do this in Vista?

As it is, anyone using Vista Aero and the X1 Taskbar is skewered.

I've looked at a Vista machine in Default "Color and Appearance" and the deskbar looks fine there.

If you've customized your Vista appearance I could see how that would potentially affected the lettering.

I customised nothing. That's the problem.

People who don't use Aero may not see this effect.

Here is what I see:

Neat don't you think?
