Office 2007

Postby Anubis » Thu Mar 25, 2010 5:21 am

How is it with Office 2007 (especially the "new" Outlook PST format) support in YDS? Currently I still use the "classical" format (the same goes for my Outlook which is on version 2000). When I finally upgrade, will I have to forget about YDS ever indexing my Office (and Outlook email) files, and rely solely on Windows Search (along with Office search), at least for email and selected Word/Excel files?

New versions of X1 have no problems with new versions of Outlook.

Or are you hooked on the free version of X1?

If so, the day will come when you will have to abandon YDS.

As Windows Search is newer, although not as powerful as X1, you might want to go down that road sooner rather than later.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

Yes, I've been using "the" Yahoo Desktop Search for quite a few years...

I'm afraid you will not get any updates to YDS.

So, when it breaks it is either a case of paying for X1 – something like $50 – or finding something else that meets your needs.
