X1 v8 crash - "Absolute path information is required"

Postby metmet » Mon May 13, 2013 3:59 pm

Hi,

Every time when I try to edit data sources for Files (clicking the "pen" icon for "Files" in "Manage Data Sources" window) this error message with "Absolute path information is required" info pops up, and X1 shuts down. Being unable to use the data sources menu to configure the disks and folders to be indexed, I tried to edit the "FilesConfig.xml" file manually, and it seems to be working this way.

Any help is appreciated...

Can you let me know what information you are indexing?

What version of outlook, other indexes you have added, what type of machine you are on etc.

we will probably need to get some log files from you as well, but let's get that info first and please post a screenshot of both the collection window and the blue x1 crash error.

Regards

My system is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Service Pack 1, all current updates installed.
Outlook version: 14.0.6129.5000 (64-bit), MS Office 2010

I had been using X1 Professional Client versions 6.x.x for years without a major issue.
X1 v8 trial version, before installing itself, uninstalled X1 Professional Client 6.7.4. Upon completion of installation, I let X1v8 to finish its job installing default directories etc. After then, with the intention of adding some other folders (which mostly contain large numbers of pdf files) to the index, I opened the following window, and clicked the "pen icon" in the first row (the one within the square in the picture).

Immediately after clicking the pen icon, this following error message popped up, and I could not pass over the data configuration window to do any configuration of folders / disks whatsoever:

Closing the error window results in X1 shutting itself down.

Uninstalling / reinstalling, "clean uninstalling" / reinstalling under "administrator privileges" did not help.

I do not experience any problem with the outlook configurations though, the only problem being with the files, folders, disks etc ...

PS: English is not my native language; I apologize for language errors.

This is an error I have not seen before. I hate to ask you to do this but can you please submit a ticket here: http://www.x1.com/support/x1_search_submit_case.html

In that link we provide a diagnostic tool. Please run it, and provide the information/logs in the ticket.

Include the screen shots, and I will get a developer to look at it asap.

Thanks -- if you have any questions, you'll find my email in the signature.
