Connection failed

Hi,

i have version 8.1 installed since about 2 weeks. Yesterday suddenly X1 said: "Unable to connect to X1 Service: All attempts to start and connect to X1ServiceHost failed". I didn't change anything. Any idea

Now i found a X1ServiceHost.exe.6.crash.xml which says at the crash details:

Do you remember which saved search you used when the search occurred?

No, i can't start the program again. I didn't used a saved search. One evening i shut down the pc and on the next day i got this error. I tried to restart the program, to restart the pc and to repair the installation but nothing helps.

Hello,

Can you try this:
1. make a backup of the "navigationtree.xml" file and all the files in the "saved searches" folder
2. delete the file and the folder (this will lose all the user-created saved searches, hence the backup)
3. Start X1 again and see if it crashes again. If it does not, then probably it is one of the saved searches that causes the problem. In that case we could help with pinpointing the problematic search and fixing it ...

Running manually X1ServiceHost.exe, the service closes by itself, I do not know if terminates normally or crashes. I do not know whether there is a log

This problem started after months of using X1 8.1 on my Win7/32b. Nothing else I recall was changed that may cause this problem.

I kind of miss the stability of the old X1 Client Pro which I had been using for many many years. My work is highly dependent on X1 and I am being hindered by this problem.

Hello,

The default data folder is located at "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\X1 Search"
there is a subfolder named "logs". In it there should be the crash.xml files, you can open the most recent one and post it's contents here.

Just in case anyone is following this and hopes that the new 8.1.1 beta fixes the issue, sorry, not here at least.

Still "Unable to connect". Have to have a second manual start.
