Well, it finally happened...the old trusted X1 mobile app for IOS is now dead. It worked so well for me for many years and got me out of many a jam - when needing that vital email on the road - is now only a memory (like Star Trek of old).

I was worried how it would work with the warning messages about old x32 apps on IOS - but that doesn't matter any more - since the X1 mobile app doesn't work for me any more - when I open it and try to connect back to my PC, a white box appears and that's all that happens.

So, please if anyone from X1 is listening, can you please open up your new X1 mobile app to us folks (customers) who are not Enterprise customers.

Since we now have no solution - and I don't really want to go to the competition.

**Edit...maybe it's the old problem related to Rendezvous Server being offline...as that is now off...so, can the kind folks at X1 get that going again?

***Edit...it's been a few weeks, and no matter how hard I try to get in touch with X1 by phone, no one wants to answer. (always goes to voicemail). If anyone is reading this, can you please restart the Rendezvous Server? I'm willing to host it if you want. Or, give us consumers a product we can buy that provides mobile support for X1. Yes?

I agree it was an excellent product which I used extensively. It is a real pity X1 don't support such high quality software. BTW: what are the alternatives for remotely searching of a pc?

What I've been playing with is to use a remote client, I'm using TeamViewer (but there are free RDP clients that may work, depending on network/firewalls etc) on my iPhone to remote back to my network.

I'm remoting back to a dedicated VM session so that I can keep the screen resolution to the smallest - since when connecting via mobile that is the important thing.

It's not a great substitute, but it can help when that desperately need email or piece of information is needed whilst on the road.

X1 is surely one of the strangest companies, where they actively go out of their way *not* to make sales. No one ever answers the phone, it always goes to voice mail. No return calls after messages left. No return of emails either, when a specific request is generated from their website for their server/remote solution.

I know these guys, and have met them personally - and they are like-able enough, but I guess they must be happy with their sales as they are, as they certainly aren't hungry enough to deal with me (or I assume, [maybe], others like me).

More likely the desktop product that we use is but a small part of X1's sales. Those enterprise products must rake in far more cash. What we get is a port of a front end that they sell by the thousand in big businesses.

I'm sure I'm not the only one in this forum old enough to realize that app features in general in the personal computer world are less sophisticated and less useful as time goes on. One would assume that in the computer world features would advance and become more sophisticated, but just as computer users are less capable now than before, so are apps.

X1 probably knows that most users would not use Mobile, since most users aren't smart enough or care enough to even search their email archives anymore. In most organizations, 90% of the users would either wait for someone else in an email thread to search the archives for them, or they would manually search in their folders after they unnecessarily manually filed the email.

Even Microsoft is eliminating its Advanced Find feature since few users use it. So, as users have larger email archives and more email to search, they are less capable or willing to actually do those searches. It's not logical, but not much about younger workers nowadays is logical from a productivity standpoint.

Sorry for the rant.
