Option to not re-index when X1 starts

Postby sfsccn » Thu Aug 23, 2018 7:01 am

If X1 finishes indexing a data source but I need to log out or restart Windows for some reason, X1 seems to re-index the source from scratch. The re-index takes a long time and uses significant CPU. A solution to this would be an option to not index a data source when it restarts unless, say, that source hasn't been indexed in a given amount of time. In other words, don't re-index repeatedly from scratch in short time frames. Is there already a way to do this?

My config:

Windows 10 1803 Build 17134.228
X1 Search 8.6 6003ch (64-bit)
Options/General: Start X1 when I start Windows, Start X1 Indexing Service when I start Windows
Options/Indexing: Always delay indexing if PC is in use
Data Sources (only 1): Files/Index Daily at 1AM

Thanks.

Any particular data source?

I don't see this behaviour.

Remember, the "progress" indicator in X1 can be misleading. It may say "1%" indexed when that really means 1% of the unindexed material.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.
