X1 does not index Outlook

Postby tardis13 » Thu Mar 28, 2019 10:15 am

How does I select Outlook for version 8.6.1 to ndex my pst files?
I have selected the folders where the PST files reside on the C drive, but X1 does not seem to be indexing the pst files there.
Under Data Sources should there be a separate option for Outlook files, as there is for files and my OneDrive account?
Thank you.

If these PST files are linked to a Profile in Outlook, X1 should see them without any intervention on your part.

Under Data Sources should there be a separate option for Outlook files, as there is for files and my OneDrive account?

  • Data sources
  • Outlook email
  • Outlook email
  • ADD PST FILE

X1 Search 8.6.1 - Build 6003fa (64-bit)
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit | Windows 10 Home 32-bit
No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

These did not show up under Data Files.
Outlook email
Outlook email
ADD PST FILE

Not sure if it's related but the X1 Add-In did not launch in the Outlook application either. I tried to manually add it, but got an error: X1 Search\Plugins\X1.Outlook.Pluin.dll is not a Valid Office Add-in.
.
FWIW, I am using Outlook 365 on a Windows 10 notebook PC.

Does this mean that X1 does not see your Outlook profile?

No Outlook Email entry in Configured Data Sources?

Is it in Available Data Sources?

No "Outlook Email" or "Outlook Notes" or "Outlook Tasks" under Available Sources.

Sounds like your X1 installation is bust.

Have you added an Outlook.com account?

Hi,

Is your Outlook 32- or 64-bit? You need to install the corresponding bit-ness of X1 for the Outlook plugin to work.

I have 64-bit X1 and 32-bit Office.

They work together just fine.

Still no luck with Outlook... but just saw realized this:

1. My outlook files are *PST. I added this extension to "the global whitelist settings" but no luck
2. For some reason my Outlook Files folder is grayed out and reads as "Folder and subfolders are blacklisted" under X1 Files Options.

Hi,

can you locate your X1 data folder (by default C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\X1 Search) and in the logs subfolder, check for a X1OutlookService32.log or X1OutlookService64.log file. Do they contain any errors?

The PST files should be indexed by the Outlook plugin, not by Files - that is why the "Outlook Files" folder is grayed.

I see "Outlook.com" as an option at the bottom but no Outlook Plugin. Nothing in Outlook that says Outlook Plugin.

Where can I download the file to install the Outlook Plugin?

Hi,

there is no separate install, the Outlook plugin is included in X1 Search 8. The reason it does not show is if X1 cannot detect a valid install of Outlook.

Can you check the X1ServiceHost.log file for entries like "Outlook is not installed or has never been launched"?

Which version of Outlook do you have installed?
