Another fellow on this forum had figured how to customize (remove) buttons from the X1 Deskbar:

You can remove some of the other Buttons on the X1 Toolbar (Deskbar) by:
View>>[Searches_Pane]
and then you can remove/rearrange the [Favourite_Searches] by right-clicking and [Remove].

For example, you can remove [Inbox] button this way, as well as rearrange the X1 Toolbar Button order for the Email/Attachments/Filesl/All, etc.

I was aware of those customization. I actually have the deskbar squished all the way to the right hand side of my task bar, so those "buttons" don't actually take up any space for me. They do show up when, after typing in a search query, I hit "Tab" and those buttons pop up and I can chose which one I want to use for this search. I find that whole interaction very useful...I use that particular key sequence a *lot*.

It's the two buttons to the left of the query box that I find useless.

Fully agree!

1. We *need* this browser-style [Back] and [Forward] buttons in the X1's main program, along with the drop-box in the text search box, right in the X1 main program itself!

2. In the X1 Deskbar we don't need the browser-style [Back] and [Forward] buttons... would be good to let users remove it...

You can make the [Forward] and [Back] icons become a 1x1 transparent GIF file on the Deskbar, but the buttons (and its spacing) still remain there unfortunately... Anyone know how to change this?
