Chinese support?

Postby manchucka » Mon Jun 26, 2006 11:35 pm

Thanks for making the product free. Fantastic.

I wonder when support for Chinese characters might be added. Specifically, I wish to search using Chinese characters. I'm almost ready to *gasp* switch to mac for BBEDIT as it can search through a messload of .txt, .rtf., .pdf, .doc ect.. for specific Chinese characters.

Is there a reason for me to stay on our side?

I also vote for X1 Unicode search support, especially for Chinese (both Traditional Chinese & Simplified Chinese). [Also for Hebrew, Swedish, etc...]

btw, X1 had recently started Unicode support in Preview_Pane.
ie: you can see both Traditional Chinese & Simplified Chinese.

Now we just need the ability to search with such characters, not only to display them. It seems from looking over the forum posts over the last few years that this has already come a long way...just holding out for the final piece of the puzzle.

I am guessing that indexing and searching unicode files might not be as fast as the X1 guy/gals would like. 加油!
