Compacting OE6 Inbox while XEC indexing OE corrputs Inbox

OK, bad day, XEC v5.5.5 running on Win'XP-Pro SP2 with IE6.

I was unaware XEC was indexing OE (I turned off "Keep_Copies_Of_Emails_In_Index"), and I tried to compact OE6's Inbox only.

The compacting operation almost got to the end, but finally said OE had a fatal error, and exited abruptly.

Upon restarting OE, my Inbox was blank (emails gone).

Fortunately I've had a OE backup a few days ago, so no important info lost, but it sure makes me want to shut down X1 before compacting OE again.


Please note that all previous attempts to compact OE6 while XEC was indexing OE, OE cannot do compacting, complaining that "another program is using it".

Fresh off the press...

Before OE6 does any compacting of a specific folder, it apparently copies this folder (into *.DBT) with same name.

So when I manually renamed this Inbox.DBT folder back to Inbox.DBX folder, I got my Inbox emails back.

Think I got lucky this time--this is the first time i've seen a *.DBT file, and have never seen this before.

Anyways, my comments about XEC v5.5.5 still stands.
