Finally a hardware hotkey button solution to call up X1

Postby w0qj » Sun Jul 02, 2006 6:48 am

Having an IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad, I've just discovered an interesting way to make a dedicated "hotkey" hardware button to activate the X1 Window.

ie: I can use below program to customise what program is launched by pressing the "Thinkpad" blue button. Pressing "Thinkpad" activates X1, and I can immediately begin typing in my search:

ThinkPad Button Customiser - Freeware
Version: 1.0.2; Last updated: 16/04/03

Finally, a hardware hotkey button solution to call up X1, rather than to press the CTRL+ALT+L that does the same.

(For other brands of notebook computers, I'm sure you can find a similar way to do this. Feel free to share your experiences on this forum).

Note: The above program is not endorsed by X1 or its moderators. This author is not associated with the developer of above program in any way.

Thanks for the tip. I now use this approach on my programmable keyboard.

I have a Logitech one with squillions of spare buttons.

I have set it so that the "Search" button creates the shortcut keystrokes used to launch X1.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.
