So how do I, or any other registered user, get a copy without having to fill in that form?

Life's too short to be doing that every time they put out an update.

No, I have nothing to do with X1, just a user since 2004.

Absolutely. I could not live without Roboform. I have three licences!

But the problem is X1's way of delivering updates under the new regime. I already bought a licence. I have been updating ever since. Now all of a sudden I have to fill in their pesky forms.

Nobody else I deal with works lime that for updates.

Even with Roboform, life's too short. I'll stick with what I have got for the time being.

The only issue I see with any of this is the removal of the ability to search archived pst's with the free version. This makes sense only as a way to try to get millions of Outlook users to pay for a licence, given that Outlook generates archive pst's regularly. Most, if not all, people using Outlook would consider the ability to archive old and current e-mail essential so removing this capability from X1 Enterprise Client seriously cripples it. However, given the free alternatives that retain this functionality, I can't see many people paying for X1.

I saw that too, but I wonder what it means.

Does it refer to PST files attached to a particular Outlook profile? Or to PST files added simply as files in their own right?

I can't see how they can stop X1 from indexing a Profile's PSTs. But that may be because I do not understand what is going on "under the hood".

As I have yet to find a place to get the release version without presenting my life history all over again, I am in no position to experiment.

Yes, it does appear that Lotus Notes indexing is exclusive to X1 Professional Client, which now cost US$50 and includes one year of technical support.

Think on the bright side, previously you need to pay for the privilege of using the X1 Enterprise Client (including Lotus Notes functionality).

So many major functions of XEC remains free to the public!

Kenward,

To access the latest build of X1 (upgrade), log into your Support Portal account, http://www.x1.com/support/, and click on the "Upgrade" link.

I hope this helps!

Kenward,

Re: v5.6.4 X1 Professional Client - Free Version

Any PST file that has been added directly to your default Outlook profile will continue to be indexed and searchable via X1.

However, the free client will not index any PST files that have been added using the X1 [Tools > Options > Emails > Outlook > Select Folders To Scan > Add PST Files(s)] dialog.

Let me know if you have additional questions regarding this functionality.

Thanks!
